The Format-4 H20: A step up to CNC for Reve Design

Reve Design, furniture designers and manufacturers in Kent, are getting a jump start on 2012 with their newly acquired Format-4 H20 CNC Machining Centre. Reve Design take on a variety of projects, ranging from bespoke cabinetmaking to serial production. The diversity of their business, combined with a need for efficiency and repeatability, made them the perfect candidate to make the transition from traditional production to CNC machining. And the dependable, UK-based support offered by Format-4 convinced them to take that step.
John Wingate, owner of Reve Design, comes from a joinery background and was already familiar with the Felder-Group and their reputation for reliable, well-engineered machines. Long before the CNC purchase, Reve Design had equipped their workshop with a Felder K 500 S Panel Saw, G 400 Edgebander, and RL 200 Clean Air Dust Extractor. In addition to trust in the Felder brand, John also emphasizes the need for excellent customer support when investing in new technology. “We shopped around quite a bit when choosing our CNC,” says John, “and no-one except the Felder-Group offered their own, UK based technical support. If we’re unsure how to proceed, we can get right on the phone with the service engineer who can advise us there and then.”
Reve Design are delighted with their Format-4 H20. “It’s always a learning curve with new technology,” John says, “but the potential is enormous.” Be it repeatable orders such as kitchens for retailers or custom-made furniture for VW camper vans, CNC efficiency means increased productivity for Reve Design.
When asked about their plans for the future, John responds that Reve Design intend to continue expanding. Once additional machinery is required to keep up with an increased workload, Format-4 will definitely be their first choice.
